・たってのお望みとあれば[あらば], たってお望みなら if you really want it [《文》 particularly wish it]; if you insist (on it).

●彼女のたっての頼みとあらば断るわけにいかない. If she wants it that badly [so much], I really can't refuse.

・庭つき一戸建てに住みたいというのが彼女のたっての願いだった. It was her strong wish [her greatest desire] to live in a detached house with a garden.

●彼には何を言ったって無駄だ. Whatever you tell him, it won't be any good [he won't listen]. | There's no use [It's no good] telling him anything.

・いくら脅したって告発はやめません. However much you threaten me I won't withdraw my accusations.

・どんなに一生懸命やったって1 週間じゃできやしないよ. You won't be able to do it in a week, however hard you try.

・泣いたって無駄だ. It's no use [There's no point] crying about it. | Crying won't help [do any good].

2 〔-といっても; -としても〕

●一口に西洋料理ったっていろいろあるよね. People talk about “western food” as though it were one thing, but there are all kinds.

・給料安いったって[安くたって]食べてはいけるんでしょう? All right [OK], so you have a low salary; but you have enough to live on, don't you? | However low your salary is, it's not as though you didn't have enough to live on.

・逃げようったって逃げられるもんじゃない. You can't escape however much you want to. | It's no good thinking you can get away.
